HISTORY

BKI was founded in 1910 as a small architectural practice by William R. Burk, Sr. (Lagarde & Burk Architects), transitioned through the 1950s to both architecture and engineering under William R. Burk, Jr. (Burk & Associates, Inc.), and has since grown into one of the region’s most vibrant multi-disciplinary corporations (Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc.) under the leadership of William R. Burk, III, and George C. Kleinpeter, Jr. (deceased).

Over the past 100+ years, this growth and diversification has proven BKI’s commitment to sustained service in our communities, the stability of its long-serving staff, and the strength of its core principles of quality and dependability. Those accomplishments have allowed us to achieve frequent recognition as one of the top firms in the nation.
