BKI provides numerous port and industrial planning services to clients throughout the Gulf South. Projects are often done with one of the firm’s civil or structural engineering divisions, or with the environmental science division in order to present the client with a complete product that is ready to begin on the implementation track.
One of the initial services the Planning Division assists clients with is identifying and pursuing funding for port projects. The firm has been successfull in securing port improvement funding through recurring grant sources, such as the Louisiana Port Priority program or periodic programs, such as the federal 2009 TIGER program. Site and facility master plans are another product that the firm has provided to both deep and shallow draft ports. Strategic port plans have a more narrow and short-term focus and are developed for specific purposes. The Planning and Environmental divisions also provide permitting and mitigation services to our clients.
BKI has participated in master plan updates for large industrial areas and prepared new master plans specific industrial parks. The firm also conducts feasibility/siting studies as a prelude to master planning or as an end product.
