NGSB Pascagoula Westbank Expansion Permits
Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding contracted BKI to provide environmental permitting assistance for the expansion of their Westbank Production Facility for cruise ship fabrication. BKI conducted an environmental assessment of the 14-acre area that included a wetlands delineation, a Benthic Survey, and dredged materials samplings. The firm also assessed any possible impact of the expansion of the area's groundwater, including the possibility of saltwater intrusion. BKI staff reviewed numerous geological reports, conducted interviews with appropriate regulatory officials, and analyzed the region's soil lithologies. BKI prepared a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan; a Spill Prevention control and Counter Measure Plan; a US Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 permit application; and addendums to Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality water and hazardous waste permit applications.
