American Iron Reduction Environmental Permits
American Iron Reduction (AIR) located in Convent, Louisiana is a direct reduction iron plant built in 1998. BKI was contracted to provide environmental engineering services for the construction of the grass roots direct reduction iron plant. BKI evaluated the requirements of 503 Sewage Sludge Regulations and the State Sanitary Code as applicable to a 8,000 gdp package sewage treatment system which was built at the site of AIR. BKI evaluated the sanitary sewage collection system and the treatment system for compliance with the State Sanitary Code and the Ten State Standards. Based on this evaluation BKI provided recommendations to the project design engineers. BKI also obtained licenses for the water line connections, sewage collection system, and the package sewage treatment plant from the State Department of Health and Hospitals and the St. James Parish Public Works Department.
