Marvin Braud Pump Station Watershed Dredging Evaluation

Marvin Braid Pump Station Watershed Dredging Evaluation

BKI was contracted by the East Ascension Parish Drainage Board to perform a HEC-RAS unsteady flow model of the Marvin Braud Pump Station watershed to evaluate the impacts of a proposed dredging program within the major channels of this basin. The Marvin Braud Pump Station Basin covers the central and northern portions of East Ascension Parish including the City of Gonzales and Prairieville, Louisiana. The study consists of calibrating a HEC-RAS model of the major collector channels within the watershed to a known rain event. After calibration the model will be used to evaluate the impacts to downstream receiving waters within the basin from proposed dredging of the major channels by the Ascension Parish Public Works Department. additionally, the study will be used to determine the need for upgrading the capacity of the Marvin Braud Pumping Station in Ascension Parish.
