I-10 at Causeway Interchange
The existing I-10/Causeway Blvd. Interchange is the primary interchange for the Metairie Business District and for traffic north of Lake Pontchartrain from Mandeville and Covington. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) retained Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc. to upgrade this outdated cloverleaf interchange with directional and semi-directional ramps. The improvements are scheduled to be done in two construction phases. Phase I will upgrade the eastern half of the interchange and Phase II the western half.
Phase I features the following major improvements: new elevated ramp northbound Causeway Blvd. to westbound I-10 (Ramp NCW;, new elevated ramp westbound I-10 to northbound Causeway Blvd. (Ramp WNC); new at-grade ramp from northbound Causeway Blvd. to eastbound I-10 (Ramp NCE); new at-grade ramp from westbound I-10 to Veterans Blvd including realignment of at-grade northbound Causeway Blvd. (Ramp WV) and combination existing bridge widening and new at-grade ramp from northbound Causeway Blvd. to Veterans Blvd. (Ramp NCV).
Phase II features the following major improvements; realignment of northwest frontage road (Ramp WF), new at-grade ramp from Veterans Blvd. to westbound I-10 (Ramp VW), new at-grade ramp from Veterans Blvd. to eastbound I-10 including realignment of at-grade southbound Causeway Blvd. (Ramp VE), new at-grade loop ramp from westbound I-10 to southbound Causeway Blvd. including widening of existing bridge (Ramp WSC), new elevated ramp from southbound Causeway Blvd. to westbound I-10 (Ramp SCW) and new elevated fly-over ramp from Ramp SCW to eastbound I-10 (Ramp SCE).
The estimated construction cost is approximately $90 million.
