Environmental Engineering and Restoration of Audubon Park Lagoon

BURK-KLEINPETER, INC. conducted an environmental study related to the restoration of the Audubon Park Lagoon. The firm was contracted by Cashio, Cochran, L.L.C on behalf of the Audubon Institute. The goal of the study was to evaluate solutions to the park’s duckweed growth problems in the existing lagoon, return it to its original contours, and prevent excessive duckweed and aquatic growth in the four newly constructed golf course lagoons.

The firm evaluated various control measures, including physical, chemical, and biological alternatives, for applicability, effectiveness, cost, operation and maintenance requirements. Based on the evaluation, BKI recommended the installation of fountains in the lagoons for duckweed control.

The total cost of this project was $65,000.
