Pier C Renovation, Forest Productions Warehouse

BURK-KLEINPETER, INC. was contracted by the Alabama State Docks to provide architectural and site engineering design for a 360,000-SF forest products warehouse to serve the Port of Mobile.

BKI designed the complete demolition of the existing warehouse and the construction of a modern industrial warehouse. The new Pier "C" warehouse can hold approximately 120,000 tons of forest products. The facility has berths for three vessels and 80-foot wharf aprons to provide ample room for handling cargo.

BKI's architectural design included roofing, flashing, ventilation, door and window openings, fire protection sprinkler system, wall sections, finish schedules, and mechanical and latrine facilities. The site development included water supply and waste water collection and transmission, including a complete sewer lift station to serve the Pier "C" complex.

Construction cost was approximately $9 million dollars.
