Burk-Kleinpeter,
Inc. (BKI) was selected by the Jefferson Parish Department of Public Works to provide engineering design for the extension of Loyola Drive between Vintage Dr. and Sunset Boulevard. This roadway provides access to the last large undeveloped tract of land in north Kenner. BKI designed the construction of a sand surcharge embankment, an asphalt-paved roadway, concrete curbs and gutters, and subsurface drainage improvements.
To provide for future development along this roadway, BKI provided complete subsurface drainage from the right of way to the outfall canal in the median, designed traffic signalization installations for the intersections of Loyola at Vintage Dr. and Sunset Blvd., and provided a concrete box culvert where Loyola Drive crosses Canal No. 7. BKI provided preliminary and final plans and specifications, construction administration, and resident inspection of the improvements.
Construction of all improvements cost approximately $2 million.
