Burk-Kleinpeter,
Inc. (BKI) designed a limited access interstate
highway interchange and mainline section
to connect the new Mississippi River
Bridge at Luling, Louisiana, with the
existing Louisiana Highway 3127 and US
Highway 90 in Boutte, Louisiana. This
interchange serves as the Southern-most
terminus of I-310 and provides traffic
coming from the growing communities in St.
Charles Parish, Louisiana, with a direct
connection to I-10 via I-310.
The 3.5 miles of
rural interstate included bridges crossing
small streams, two directional
interchanges, and one steel curved girder
bridge. BKI also designed the preliminary
geometrics for the mainline continuation
and the ramps connecting Highway 90
eastbound.
The construction
cost for the completed portion of the
project was $32 million.
