BURK-KLEINPETER,
INC. was retained by St. Bernard Parish
Sewer District No. 1 & 2 to design a
two-million gallon a day (MGD) expansion
of the existing Dravo wastewater treatment
plant.
BKI designed a
separate extended aeration treatment train
to operate in parallel with the existing
treatment plant. The project included a
12-MGD effluent pump station, effluent
force main, covered sludge drying beds, an
expansion of the operations and compressor
building and construction of a new
laboratory building. BKI also provided
construction administration and resident
inspection.
The construction
cost was approximately $4.8
million.
