Baton Rouge Airport - Overlay of Taxiways
"E" & "L"

Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc. (BKI) developed construction documents, including plans and specifications for the installation of an asphaltic overlay of existing taxiways, pavement striping, grading, and seeding for Taxiway “E” and Taxiway “L” at the Baton Rouge Airport. The taxiways measured 1,103 feet and 3,290 feet, respectively.

The Greater Baton Rouge Airport District selected BKI for this assignment due to the firm’s reputation for successfully advancing projects with limited time frames. The project had to be designed and ready for bid in six weeks in order to utilize additional FAA grant money prior to end of the government fiscal year.

BKI designed adjustments to the profile of each taxiway. The design included leveling course and surface course/thickness, computation of edge profiles, pavement striping plan, airport safety plan, sequence of construction plan, construction erosion control plan,
grading, and seeding. BKI also provided quantity estimates, typical sections and details, and cost estimating.

The total construction cost for this project was approximately $353,000.
