Burk-Kleinpeter,
Inc. (BKI) was contracted to provide complete
architectural services, drawings,
specifications, construction
administration and resident inspection for
renovation of the food service facilities
at the riverfront Aquarium of the
Americas.
This high-profile project
consisted of converting an owner-managed and
operated food service into a lively, high-tech,
leased-out food court. The new Food Court of the
Americas
placed
three franchised businesses - Burger King, Papa John's, and
Baskin-Robbins - into the same 5,400 square
feet of space as the previous, owner-managed
facility, thus increasing revenues from the lease
while providing a new, exciting food service
establishment for the public.
This complete renovation was
planned and accomplished without disrupting the
ongoing operations of the Aquarium and the public
viewing of the exhibits.
The construction cost was
approximately $500,000.
